Solar panels on the groundProject summary

Coppertech Renewables were awarded the full mechanical and electrical delivery package including associated civil works for the Stonehollow Solar Farm, an 80MW utility-scale project in Leicestershire.

At the time of construction, it was the second-largest solar site in the UK by capacity, and to date, no other energised site has surpassed its proud position as no 2 in the UK.

This project represented one of the largest combined M&E scopes ever delivered to date by a single contractor in the UK. While at the time one larger site existed on paper, its execution was split across multiple contractors or contractors were limited to a single discipline i.e. mechanical only or electrical only. Stonehollow’s full package award to Coppertech demonstrated market confidence in our ability to deliver complex, high-value scopes at scale.

The site presented substantial delivery risks, situated across more than 200 acres in a high flood-risk zone. Persistent flooding throughout the winter build phase caused significant disruption to access and infrastructure. Compounding this were delays to critical imported equipment.

To maintain progress and protect the energisation timeline, Coppertech mobilised larger workforce teams and adapted construction sequencing to match revised delivery schedules.
